Nanami Takahashi falls for Motoharu Yano, the most popular, carefree boy in class. For Nanami, it's first love, but Yano is still grieving the death of his girlfriend who died the year before. Nanami starts high school with high hopes of making lots of friends. She develops a crush on the enigmatic Yano, but he may have too many secrets for her to handle.
I decided to try out a new manga, and it was definitely worth it. This story had everything in it. I especially love YA romance, because it appeals to my taste. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Yuki Obata, and it sure shows why this book has won an award, been turned into a t.v. show, and a film! :)
It was a great manga novel, and I loved the relationship between Nanami and Motoharu. Yuki Obata really explained the feelings of Nanami well, and after reading a couple reviews on Amazon.com, I also agreed with the reviewers. I agreed with them, because they said that Yuki Obata also showed not only Nanami's feelings towards Motoharu (whom they call Yano, which is the last name), but also Yano's. I strongly agreed with them, because Yano's feelings in the book were depicted correctly. It's the typical guy-trying-to-hide-his-feelings kind of thing, because Yano didn't like showing his inner feelings at first, and acted like the typical cocky sort of guy towards Nanami.
I thought it was really sad that his old girlfriend was named Nana, and now the new girl, who's name is Nanami, is called Nana for short. I really enjoyed this book, and I recommend it to others, too!!
Likes: Nanami + Yano!!! (I thought it was so sad that (spoiler) Yano's girlfriend cheated on him.) It was truly sad. Also, Yano's other side; the sweet one, like when he said that his old girlfriend was his first true love.
Dislikes: Nanami, the main girl, had a problem with this too, and I agree as well. Yano often contradicts himself in the book, and he never gave a straight answer. One sad part was when Nanami was feeling like she would never compare to his last girlfriend. You could feel compassion towards her.
*Note: Some language and also this manga is rated 16 and up.
