Settled in at her new school and flanked by awesome friends Chloe and Zoey, life is looking up for Nikki Maxwell, especially since her crush, Brandon, asked her to be his lab partner—a seriously awesome development. However, when Nikki overhears mean girl Mackenzie bragging that Brandon’s taking her to the Halloween dance, a bummed Nikki signs on to spend Halloween at a kids’ party with her little sister, Brianna, instead. After she finds out Mackenzie was lying and her dream of going to the party with Brandon could be a reality, Nikki has two events to juggle . . . plus plenty of other entertaining trials and tribulations along the way!
Dork Diaries: Tales of Not-So-Popular Party Girl was a fresh take on comedy. It made good for some good light-reading, and the humorous writings of Rachel Renee Russell were truly hilarious. Nikki is definitely portayed as the typical girl trying to fit in, but also wants to not change and show her inner, well to put it frankly, her "inner dork." :)
I loved reading this book, and it was good, since I love to have some humour and fun into my reading, and this is the perfect thing to pick up. I loved Nikki + Brandon, because they are really cute together. Brianna, her little sister, is really quite gives a laugh. You get trapped into the book, and keep laughing and reading, never realizing how many pages have gone by.
The storyline was good, and I loved the last chapter, which takes place at the dance. MacKenzie, the ultimate mean girl, is always serving up trouble for poor little Nikki, and she won't stop there. This book was a fun read, and girls of all ages will definitely love Nikki and her "dork diaries."
Likes: Nikki + Brandon, Brianna, the storyline, humour
Dislikes: Nothing. :)
