Katarina Bishop has worn a lot of labels in her short life. Friend. Niece. Daughter. Thief. But for the last two months she’s simply been known as the girl who ran the crew that robbed the greatest museum in the world. That’s why Kat isn’t surprised when she’s asked to steal the infamous Cleopatra Emerald so it can be returned to its rightful owners.
There are only three problems. First, the gem hasn’t been seen in public in thirty years. Second, since the fall of the Egyptian empire and the suicide of Cleopatra, no one who holds the emerald keeps it for long, and in Kat’s world, history almost always repeats itself. But it’s the third problem that makes Kat’s crew the most nervous and that is simply… the emerald is cursed.
Kat might be in way over her head, but she’s not going down without a fight. After all she has her best friend—the gorgeous Hale—and the rest of her crew with her as they chase the Cleopatra around the globe, dodging curses, realizing that the same tricks and cons her family has used for centuries are useless this time.
Which means, this time, Katarina Bishop is making up her own rules.
I absolutely loved this book! I think I loved it a little bit more than the first one because in this one, the other characters were more involved in the schemes. I was scared before because sequels normally disappoint (with a few exceptions), but thankfully this was not the case. I continued to relate to Kat, and she continued to be a strong female character.
There honestly isn't much that I can say about this book. The plot was absolutely addicting, and I finished it in one sitting. I loved that although Kat was a strong character, she also had flaws--and she acknowledged them. She tried her best to overcome them, which brought some nice character development.
All of the characters--well by this I mean Kat, and the gang--had brilliant chemistry. I love the way they interacted. They were hilarious, and they were all brilliant. They each brought a key piece to the story, and the schemes.
Speaking of the schemes, the plot was always one step ahead of me. It was confusing, and mind blowing at the same time. The plot was so intense, but not overdone. I also love the relationship between Hale and Kat! It's unclear whether they got together or not, but I'm just glad that there's no love triangle, despite the opportunity for it. (I'm getting quite frustrated with love triangles, and am going to try to stay away from them now.)
You all need to read this series! Not only is the plot addicting, but it makes you feel bad*ss simply by reading it!
Likes: The characters, their relationships, the plot.
Dislikes: A bit confusing at times.
