Three years ago, Sophie Mercer discovered that she was a witch. It's gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie's estranged father--an elusive European warlock--only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it's her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hex Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward Prodigium, a.k.a. witches, faeries, and shapeshifters. By the end of her first day among fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard: three powerful enemies who look like supermodels, a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock, a creepy tagalong ghost, and a new roommate who happens to be the most hated person and only vampire student on campus. Worse, Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her only friend is the number-one suspect.
As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all Prodigium, especially her.
Need to get my hands on Demonglass, the second book in the Hex Hall trilogy! I love love love Hex Hall! :) It captured me from page one, and I loved all the characters! :) Some parts were a mystery, some parts sad, some parts romance, and even thriller. I loved and enjoyed Hex Hall! :) I'm going to try to do this review minus any spoilers, because I don't want to ruin this amazing story.
The characters were so real, and I loved Sophie. She was smart, witty, and charming - basically the entire package. Her feelings were so real, and I loved that she loved Archer, who is a warlock. In the book, don't be fooled by what everybody is in the beginning. Nobody is who they say they are. I was shocked by all the realizations of the characters. :)
I loved Jenna, who wasn't the stereotypical vampire. Rachel Hawkins had fun in her characters, making them so real, and so fun.Sophie + Archer was also amazing, because you know I love a good romance. Sophie and Archer's relationship was so true, and you could feel the love between them. The love and the heartbreak.
The mystery starts when you get to the middle of the book - but you might be thinking that's pretty slow. It wasn't, at all! :) You will fly through this book with the wit and charm of all the characters. Hex Hall was a truly unique story, and I loved Sophie's realization of what she was. She found herself in the least place she ever thought - Hex Hall.
Likes: Sophie, Sophie's sarcastic wit, her realization about herself, no stereotypes, Jenna, Sophie + Archer, incorporating a little of each supernatural element into the story, the storyline
Dislikes: Nothing. :)
*Note: Hex Hall does contain sexual content, language, and mild violence and gore.
