On Solange’s sixteenth birthday, she is going to wake up dead. As if that’s not bad enough, she also has to outwit her seven overprotective older brothers, avoid the politics involved with being the only daughter born to an ancient vampire dynasty, and elude Kieran Black—agent of an anti-vampire league who is searching for his father’s killer and is intent on staking Solange and her entire family. Luckily she has her own secret weapon—her human best friend Lucy. Lucy is willing to defend Solange’s right to a normal life, whether she’s being smothered by her well-intentioned brothers or abducted by a power-hungry queen. Two unlikely alliances are formed in a race to save Solange’s eternal life—Lucy and Solange’s brother Nicholas, and Solange and Kieran Black — in a dual romance that is guaranteed to jump start any romance-lover’s heart.
This book was about a to-be-vampire girl named Solange with six over protective brothers and a human best friend (Lucy). Her life was in danger because the vampires' queen considered her a threat because it was rare for a vampire girl to be born.
Solange's best friend Lucy, was the second main character and was my favourite. Unlike Solange, Lucy was more outspoken and bold. She and one of Solange's brother Nicholas mutually hated each other, but like they all say; 'there's a thing line between love and hate'...
I absolutely loved this book because of how Lucy and Nick's relationship grew throughout the book. I must admit that I did not enjoy Solange's 'forbiddon' love storyline as much as I enjoyed Lucy's because I could relate more to Lucy. I could relate to Solange but not as much as Lucy. I did like Solange but when I compared her to Lucy she came out as boring and I found myself skimming the pages which were from her point of view. Once I realized what I was doing I had to re-read all of the pages.
Likes: Lucy, Nicholas, Kieran, Solange.
Dislikes: the evil Queen.
