This groundbreaking classic is more compelling than ever for today's readers. A sensation when it was first published and a perennial bestseller ever since, this real-life diary charts an anonymous teenage girl's struggle with the seductive--and often fatal--world of drugs.
This book held such a powerful message within. I absolutely loved Go Ask Alice. It was wonderful and it was portrayed in a way that kept readers in suspense and made them reflect on their own actions.
This novel held such an amazing message. The diary entries felt so real and true - and I felt that the emotions and feelings were so true. The diarist was very true - and we saw her change from the beginning to the end.
I felt that the protagonist was definitely a character that had true emotions and feelings. I felt that she changed from the beginning to the end, and you could see the story come alive in its own way.
I felt myself fear for the character, and you couldn't believe some of the hardships that the diarist had to tackle. It was very moving and very sad at times, but at the end it was what really made the story feel true and honest and have to be read by all.
The other characters in the novel were never slow or moving characters. I like that they were all joined together in a way and all impacted each other directly and indirectly.
It also really went to show that the paths we take are what make up. A wrong decision and a right decision can make break or make a character - and decisions were especially key in the book because of the decisions that the character had to make regarding her life, family, friends, and more.
It was amazing to see the story progress. We saw the diarist go through many challenges but still never give up hope. It takes a lot of courage to do that - and I think that she really showed it.
The storyline was never dull. The story kept me flipping the pages and there was never a moment where I felt that the story was moving too slowly. It was definitely a classic that I think everyone should read. :)
Likes: the protagonist, never dull, suspenseful, the hope, the beginning, decision-making and how it can affect a person's life, the characters impacting each other
Dislikes: Nothing. :)
Note: This book contains mature themes such as sexual content and language.
