AS THE YOUNGEST and only female member of the Knights Templar, Bilqis SanGreal grew up knowing she wasn’t normal. Instead of hanging out at the mall or going on dates, she spends her time training as a warrior in her order’s ancient battle against the Unholy.
Billi’s cloistered life is blasted apart when her childhood friend, Kay, returns from Jerusalem, gorgeous and with a dangerous chip on his shoulder. He’s ready to slide back into Billi’s life, but she’s met someone new: amber-eyed Mike, who seems to understand her like no one else and effortlessly stakes a claim on her heart.
But the Templars are called to battle before Billi can enjoy the thrilling new twist to her life. One of the order’s ancient enemies has resurfaced, searching for a treasure that the Templars have guarded for almost a thousand years—King Solomon’s cursed mirror, a source of unimaginable power. To save the lives of millions, Billi will have to put her heart aside and make sacrifices greater than she could have imagined.
I've been putting this review off for months and that's because I wasn't exactly sure how to review it. My opinion of it is very mixed.
This book was very well written. The author made it feel as if you were there but it was the plot--no the events that happened, that bothered me. The description of the book puts a lot of weight on certain events but in the book they're expressed in very different ways. The description is very misleading which was a turn-off.
The plot was very small in the sense that it had only a few characters, which made me bored. Honestly, the only reason I kept reading the book was because I wanted to know what happened to Billi and Kay in the end. The ending cut me like a knife, and I felt horrible for the rest of the day. But nevertheless it was a strong ending.
I just felt that some of the twists were cliché, and were exaggerated in the description. It was overall a nice book, but it's not the type of book I would've spent a lot of money on (I got this for a really good price).
Likes: Kay; he's such a sweet person.
Dislikes: The very "small" world this book had.
