After years of frequent moves following her mother’s death, Chloe Saunders’s life is finally settling down. She is attending art school, pursuing her dreams of becoming a director, making friends, meeting boys. Her biggest concern is that she’s not developing as fast as her friends are. But when puberty does hit, it brings more than hormone surges. Chloe starts seeing ghosts–everywhere, demanding her attention. After she suffers a breakdown, her devoted aunt Lauren gets her into a highly recommended group home.
At first, Lyle House seems a pretty okay place, except for Chloe’s small problem of fearing she might be facing a lifetime of mental illness. But as she gradually gets to know the other kids at the home–charming Simon and his ominous, unsmiling brother Derek, obnoxious Tori, and Rae, who has a “thing” for fire–Chloe begins to realize that there is something that binds them all together, and it isn’t your usual “problem kid” behaviour. And together they discover that Lyle House is not your usual group home either…
Now one of my favourites! I love this book! It was a great read - for me. If you like books that have fantasy, romance, and supernatural scenes, this is the book for you! :) Chloe thought she was an average teen until a dead janitor comes after her to explain... he needs her help. She has a "meltdown" as people thought, and she is taken into a "group home" for "troubled teens" called Lyle House. But after being there, Chloe realizes she may not be so crazy after all, and she needs to save her fellow "inmates" before they are wrapped into the sinister plot and true intentions of Lyle House.
I really enjoyed the book, because of the realness, the suspense, and the unexpected twists! I can't wait to read the rest of the series, The Awakening and The Reckoning. As the book will go on, you will find yourself flying through the pages! Chloe was real and a great heroine, not fake or like those typical I-can-do-anything heroine. She had her doubts, and that was real.
Likes: Main storyline, Chloe, Derek and Simon (so Damon and Stefan from TVD)
Dislikes: Nothing
