On her sixteenth birthday, Anastasija Parker learns that her so-called deadbeat dad is actually a vampire king. And he wants Ana to assume her rightful position at his side, in spite of the fact that she has witch's blood running through her veins-from her mother's side.
Too bad witches and vampires are mortal enemies. And now Ana's parents are at each other's throats over her future. It's up to Ana to make a choice, but deciding your eternal destiny is a pretty big deal for a girl who just wants to get through high school.
You might think it's strange after doing so many review, that I'm stuck rating this. At some parts it was a 3.5 stars out of 5, but there was other with which I felt a connection, making it a 4. Since it was between those two numbers, I decided to give it a 3.5 out of five stars. Sometimes it was good, and sometimes it was okay for me.
I liked Anastasijia, who was the main character. She was great. I found her to be the kind of girl that was confused but determined to do the right thing. The beginning of the story didn't capture me in, per-say, but the rest of the book was good.
I enjoyed it, and there were no rushed or dragged parts. I do want to read the next book in the series, and hopefully I can try it again to see if it might be a little bit better. You can decide for yourself if Almost to Die For is something you want to pick up, because it was an enjoyable read for me. I liked the love triangle going on, and it is hard for me to choose which one she should be with, because they are both sweet-hearts ready to protect her. I just think Nikolai is confused with choosing his heritage over her or accepting who she really is. :)
Likes: Anastajia, Witch vs. Vampire Love Triangle, Family Drama
Dislikes: The beginning, I thought Anastajia putting Taylor out of the loop was kind of mean (like she wasn't that important)
*Note: This book has some language, mild gore, contains some sexual content.
