Yotsuba loooooves playing games! When Daddy's the counter in hide-and-seek, he can never find Yotsuba, 'cos I'm such a good hider! And when we go to the park, Yotsuba's the bestest at swing-tag-shoe-races. Daddy says Yotsuba's making up the rules as we go along, but Yotsuba thinks Daddy's just a sour loser. But maybe Yotsuba will let him win once in a while...
What can I say about Yotsuba?! :) She cracks me up, and she feels like a little version of Georgina Nicholson at times. :) I could imagine her as a child in the same scenarios, although Yotsuba can get into a mess of trouble...
I absolutely loved this manga novel! :D I'm glad that the author comes up with so many strange and funny things that Yotsuba encounters, and all the while she is learning so much. It's really funny.
Yotsuba is a character that is very different from the kids. Her encounters with her neighbours, her father, and her friends feel very real. I could really connect to Yotsuba, and I found myself flipping through the pages, laughing at their hilarious hi-jinx.
The different chapters are the different things that Yotsuba encounters. It's hilarious to see what she does in each chapter, and I absolutely loved how the author pieces together and ties it into the next chapter.
There was never a slow or dull moment in the book, and I really enjoyed this. It was nice that the author could entertain the reader throughout the entire book, from crazy to sweet moments that brought the story together wonderfully.
I felt that the emotions felt by Yotsuba and the author characters were well-shown. It was nice to see the emotions being shown by all the characters, and their different personalities. It showed how the different characters reacted in different situation, and it definitely brought out more humour and comedy. I also liked that the many interactions that Yotsuba has with the other characters, and it showed the different relationships she had with them.
Yotsuba does get herself into masses of trouble, as expected, from breaking a window to making pancakes. Anyone who reads this will be falling over each other in laughter and memories from their childhood. :)
Likes: Yotsuba, her dad, Jumbo, the neighbours, making pancakes, the electronics store, the different chapters, how the author ties it into the next chapter, the drawings, the expressions and feeling
Dislikes: Nothing :)
*Note: If you want to start the series, start with Yotsuba: Volume 1.
