What if the characters in a vampire novel left their world--and came into yours?Amy is in love with someone who doesn't exist: Alexander Banks, the dashing hero in a popular series of vampire novels. Then one night, Amy meets a boy who bears an eerie resemblance to Alexander. In fact, he IS Alexander, who has escaped from the pages of the book and is in hot pursuit of a wicked vampire named Vigo. Together, Amy and Alexander set out to track Vigo and learn how and why Alexander crossed over. But when she and Alexander begin to fall for each other, Amy wonders if she even wants him to ever return to the realm of fiction.
The first thing that I want to say about this novel - is that I never expected a really great story. It seemed very typical, and I was reluctant of a great story. But instead, I got a great story- though sometimes cheesy at times - but nonetheless, a story when I could connect with the protagonist, Amy, and the other characters in the novel.
I enjoyed this story very much. I thought Amy's little sister's rebellious stage was very real, even though she was only in eighth grade. I couldn't believe some of the stunts she pulled! And they were not very appropriate for an eighth grader. Anyways, I really loved the connection between Amy and Alexander. Alexander getting to understand today's modern life was quite hilarious, and the connection between Amy and Alexander was real and understood. I mean, how great would it be if we could have a real Edward from Twilight here?
Amy was also a great character, and I really liked her. She was strong, and through the beginning to the end, I felt she grew. I liked that the book had many surprises, and as I was about to close the book, something new and interesting would pop up, leaving me on the edge of my seat to see if they were going to make it through. The cheesy-ness at the end was okay, but everything worked out well I thought, and it was a great story. I really recommend it, because it was an enjoyable read.
Likes: Amy + Alex, the funny bits in the book, the ending
Dislikes: A little bit of cheesy-ness, but it was still good
*Note: This book contains some scary themes and some implied cursing.
