A love triangle that will span eternity...
The year is 1864 and the Civil War rages on. But seventeen-year-old Stefan Salvatore is fighting a battle all his own. Engaged to marry someone he does not love, Stefan falls for a mysterious girl named Katherine. With her gleaming curls and mischievous brown eyes, Katherine is beautiful and seductive...but she also harbors a dark secret: She's a vampire.
Based on the popular CW TV show inspired by the bestselling novels, Stefan's Diaires reveals what really happened between Stefan, Damon, and Katherine-how the Vampire Diaries love triangle began.
This book wasn’t at all like I expected, yet I still enjoyed it. I’ve never watched the show but I thought I had a good idea of what happened between Katherine, Damon, and Stefan—that is until I read this. I’m actually not sure about what I should say about this book, so I’ll do what I do best; characters.
Stefan from 1864 is quite different from the one in present time. Present Time Stefan is much wiser, and sure of himself, while the one from 1864 is so gullible, and innocent. The whole time I was thinking ‘Are you sure this is Stefan?’
Damon is exactly how I imagined him to be. I just wish I could have seen—read—how he fell for Katherine but seeing this is part of Stefan’s diary I can see how that can’t be possible. (Do you actually expect Damon Salvatore to keep a diary?)
I absolutely LOVE Katherine from the show but for Katherine from the books I had absolutely no feelings towards her. No love, no hate. I was surprised with myself but I guess because this book actually seemed so short, and there wasn’t enough Katherine’s presence so that I could judge her. And I guess it’s the same way I felt about Blair of the Gossip Girl prequel; Nina Dobrev makes Katherine much more 3-Dimensional.
Anyway, I flew right through the pages and it somehow seemed short, but I enjoyed it all the same.
Likes: The bond between Stefan and Damon (sad to say that they've now lost it in the present time).
Dislikes: Stefan and Damon's father, not only because of what he did to Katherine but also how he treats both Damon and Stefan. ESPECIALLY what he did to them in the end.
