The manga adaptation of the all-time best selling novel in Japan! Affectionately known as "Sekachu" in Japan, SOCRATES IN LOVE became a national sensation bringing innocent love and romance to the forefront of Japan''s ultra-hip mass market. A sweet high school romance between an average guy and a beautiful girl has just gotten underway. But tragedy ensues when the girl falls ill with leukemia. A bittersweet tale of young love, enduring devotion, and heartbreaking loss, Socrates in Love is a story to cherish and nurture.
Where can I start this review? I felt such a connection towards this book, and I really really enjoyed it. Yes, I know, right now I am on a total manga craze, and that's because I want to finish these ones before the start of summer. :) I totally LOVE manga, and I hope to find some summer ones soon! :)
I know now why this novella is a hit in Japan, and it is because this book has touched many hearts around the world. This book is a bit mature, and is rated 16 and up by Shojo Manga, so I do recommend this for mature and older readers. But don't worry, it's not graphic or anything. I loved the main character, which was the boy, affectionately called "Saku-chan" by his girlfriend, Aki, who acquries leukemia, and their relationship becomes tested. I truly loved this book, and I think readers will truly enjoy the novel that has touched hearts everywhere. :)
*Note: This manga is rated 16 and up for some sexuality and language.
Likes: I really liked it, and I can understand why this book is so popular in Japan, and has touched hearts everywhere. I also really liked that the author showed the true love between Aki and Saku-chan.
Dislikes: Oki's peer pressure towards Saku-chan, the main character.
