Cammy Hall is what anyone would describe as a loser. She lives with her grandparents and has adopted their way of life… right down to the comfortable shoes and early bedtime. And can she help it that she actually likes to knit? At school, her skills with knitting needles and some yarn go completely unappreciated: people like Bekka Bell reign while Cammy and her best friend, the fearless Danish exchange student Gerdi, watch from the sidelines. Cammy's used to being an outsider; after years of humiliating moments, her goal is simply to fly under the radar. Then she suddenly starts receiving mysterious text messages that lead her right to all the embarrassing secrets about the most popular kids in school. Cammy never expected to be able to climb up the high school food chain, and the agenda of the texter may be questionable-but how can she possibly give up the chance to be Queen?
Loser/Queen was amazing! :) The ending totally pulled me in, and I loved that this was not the kind of books that had to end up happy. I was content with the ending, but it was sad for me, since I am used to happy endings. But it was a definite twist, and the identity of the White Rabbit was something I never expected, except it does seem obvious when you think about it! :)
I really enjoyed this novel. The plot was amazing, and the story moved nicely. When I picked up this book, I thought of Getting Revenge on Lauren Wood by Eileen Cook. But that didn't make me love the book any less, but rather the opposite! I really loved the ending too, as I already said, and Cammy was a likable character. I think this story would have been better if it might have been from her point of view, instead of just narrating it. I still loved it nonetheless. The story was not rushed or dragged! :) It was beautiful, and the writing was really creative. Some parts scared me a little, and I think the author did a great way of incorporating different genres into the mix, from mystery to drama to romance, for example.
Some parts were okay in the story, but that didn't happen alot. I really enjoyed it, even though the two reviews on Amazon.com said the didn't like it at all - which was surprising. Also, when they said in the plot summary that Cammy caused the downfall of the most popular girl at school, I didn't really think she had a downfall. I thought she really just became less popular. And Gerdi was such a funny character. I really liked her! :) I always love the funny sidekick!!! :)
Likes: No cliché ending, Cammy, feelings and thoughts seemed as if she was real, Gerdi
Dislikes: I felt some parts we okay
