Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer--they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one terrible and wonderful summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.
After Aria told me about this book I knew that I definitely needed to get it, and I'm so glad I did. The reason this book didn't get a perfect 5 from me was of a few things that bugged me throughout the whole book.
One of the very few things that bugged me is that I didn't know the character's full name from the beginning. I read other reviews and a few people said that, that also bugged them. One person even said that they just ended up "naming" her Bellatrix and that it stuck with them even after the found out her real name. Although mostly it isn't the books fault, I ended up using Bella as a first name for her. The second thing that annoyed me was that Belly was quite immature. I did grow to like her as she matured but there were times when I got frustrated with her.
Nevertheless I adored this book to pieces and loved Belly. I felt embarrassed for her, I felt giddy with her, and I felt sorry for her. I loved her relationships with all the characters; especially the ones with Jeremiah and Conrad. I myself felt very sad at the end of the book, because not only is it the summer before change but a great tragedy occurs.
Likes: All the characters.
Dislikes: Taylor; she's very inconsiderate, and the tragedy at the end.
